Jim Theuer is an experienced litigator and trial attorney and has received an AV preeminent rating from his peers and judges.  His practice focuses on employment lawcommercial litigation, and the defense of individuals charged with Federal criminal offenses.

In employment law, he represents employers and employees in Virginia and North Carolina in the areas of: unpaid overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act; workplace claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage payment statutes, and for wrongful discharge or retaliation; discrimination claims and investigations under Title VII, Section 1981, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act; non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements and claims; employee handbooks and employment policies; employee hiring, discipline, and termination; union organizing petitions, unfair labor practice charges, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board; employee lay-offs and terminations and the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act; denial of benefits under ERISA plans; wage garnishments and collection; and, criminal defense of employers and employees on charges arising from workplace conduct.
